Visit the twin gold country towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley, each just twenty minutes away. There are many shops and restaurants, wonderful Victorian houses, historic buildings, great wine tasting, and a good local Saturday farmers market at the county fairgrounds just outside of Grass Valley. Be sure to visit the Empire Mine Historic State Park and the Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, both within a half-hour's drive.
